Yaz Lane is a child of the 90s. She grew up watching Nirvana on MTV, having horror movie marathons on Friday nights, and reading comic books like her life depended on it. These images and icons have been burned into her subconscious. Punk shows, sci-fi, street art, fast food, the internet and reality tv- American culture shaped her life at a key age and it’s a vital component of her creative process.
Her work is among other things, reduction: the reduction of personality into logo, the reduction of individuality into the collective, the reduction of photography into design. They are a subtraction if images: the recycling, re-using and reducing of images into a iconographic collections of shapes.
